Currently, I use ScreenZen on my phone to set limits for the app I use. This inlcude YouTube, evidently. I began watching a YouTube course/playlist Back-end engineering from first principles, and as I wash the dishes, the screen limit pop ed up again.

I do think using youtube for education is a useful purpose, and I got reminded from the Discord server I’m in regarding Digital Minimalism that someone uses yt-dlp to download the videos, such that they can watch them without distractions. And so did I.

Before I had some issues with it (the version of the yt-dlp program was outdated from 2022, I could not upgrade it, same with youtube-dl), but I manage to solve it by downloading the release file. Now all works smoothly, and I’m thinking to create a folder on my desktop to sync with the media I want to share on my phone using Syncthing
