I’m by no means the right person to critique music, but to cultivate that sensibility I need to start somewhere, don’t I?) Maybe in the future I will have dedicated notes for each of the albums I listen to.

Hot Rats - Frank Zappa

Loved it!!!

What I’ve gathered from what I’ve listened this month is that I like the jazzy/blues rhythms so much. Though I admit Kind of Blue didn’t blow me away..

Such a good balance/harmony in this, experimental enough but also “fun” according to my mainstream sense. Will listen more of Zappa’s works.

The Lost Tapes - Rodion G.A.

Found about because of this video.

Listened mostly in the background while working, so I do not hold well formed opinions. I am into this space/psychedelic rock, and I appreciated the oriental instruments here.

I wasn’t aware about such artists in the Romanian sphere.

The White Album – The Beatles

I’m having my The Beatles awakening (Beatlemania, if you will) at 21.

Some songs reminded me of the Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Sexy Sadie reminded me of Radiohead and Evangelion… And I was right about the first one - the Karma Police outro was inspired by this, same with Four out of five by AM. Beautiful how everything is connected, Joan Didion chose this album name for her The White Album essay collection (“The White Album signifies a period of personal and societal upheaval, paralleling The Beatles’ “White Album,” known for its plain cover and diverse content”).

Till now, this is the most “rock” album by them I’ve listened to.

So many favorites: While my guitar gently sweeps, Happiness is a warm gun, Blackbird, I Will, Yer Blues, Sexy Sadie, Helter Skelter, Revolution 1.

It’s less cohesive that The Revolver which I’ve also listened to fully this year, and less influenced by the psychedelic sounds, but more experimental. From heavier songs (ones that precede the heavy metal genre?) to mellow romantic ones, amazing piece of work.

Abbey Road - The Beatles

More standard rock sounding. I’ve always like some songs from this album, such as Come Together, I want you (She’s so heavy), Something; probably the easiest listening album they have.

They form such beautiful harmonies together. Currently I’m mesmerized by Sun King.

Fantastic song transitions in the 2nd half of the album.

Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club

Favorites: Lucy in the Sky with Diamond (why did this sounds like Bob Dylan for a second, maybe the voice), She’s Leaving Home, A Day in the Life

Couldn’t have said this album is recorded later than Revolver, as that one seems like a more mature project, this one seemed sillier to me) Still fun, I liked the oriental instruments somewhere along the lines.

As the Apple Music notes suggested, it does feel like looking into the past a bit, more conservative, with songs like When I’m Sixty Four, With a Little Help from my Friends.

How does one analyze music like this…

Butterfly - Mariah Carey

Christmas season is approaching, and instead of listening to “All I want for Christmas is You”, I listened to another record by Mariah Carey.

I’ve enjoyed thoroughly the first half of the album. Very catchy songs to me, I like the production and her vocals. Quite groovy? Some songs, like My All, are more slow compared to the album opener, but all of this transitions well.

Might need to relistened some of the last songs, because currently the first one it’s all I’ve been listening.

Favorites: Honey, The Roof, Fourth of July

December

Nonagon Infinity - King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard

Well…
